When Evey’s mom, Katie, first reached out about her senior session, she was very clear about one thing—they wanted lush, green backdrops. This time of year in their home state of Montana tends to be more brown, so they were excited to plan something different. Originally from Wisconsin, they timed the session around a visit to reconnect with friends and family, making the most of their trip. In addition to Katie, a handful of Evey’s aunts even came along for the shoot, making it an absolute hoot as they cheered her on, made her laugh, and even stepped in as my assistants from time to time.
We began at the beautiful Lebanon Hills in Eagan, where Evey stood among tall pines and deep forest greens. As a long time ballet dancer, Evey changed into her ballet costume, bringing a sense of elegance and regality to the forest. Set against the raw beauty of the woods, she carried herself with quiet confidence and grace.
To wrap up the session and get a completely different feel, we headed to downtown St. Paul, finishing in front of the James J. Hill Library. The stately marble façade perfectly complemented her look, bringing a sense of timeless beauty and strength to the final images.
