It’s always such a pleasure photographing the Derks family. This year’s session included the newest addition to the family, Kaylee. Getting Kaylee and big sister Keira to pose for a photo together was a bit challenging but that’s the age where letting things happen as organically as possible is key. In the end, the result is always authentic and wrapped in pure sweetness.
I love in home sessions because they tend to be more intimate. We covered everything from crawling around on the floor to making a favorite blueberry juice in the kitchen. Their beloved pet and family member, Mr. Wilson graced us with his presence for a few photos. I’m so thankful because he sadly passed away just two weeks after the session. It warms my heart knowing they’ll always have these images to remind them what this season of life was like. It’s the closest we’ll ever get to putting time in a bottle.
Cheers to another year of making beautiful memories and my sincere deepest condolences on the loss of Mr. Wilson. XOXO
